How I Became an Esthetician
Growing up, I was fortunate to have silky-smooth skin with no blemishes or major issues. During my teenage years and all throughout my twenties, having a skincare routine was never an option. I did not breakout or suffered from any type of dryness whatsoever. My skin was perfect the way it was. Like many others, I washed my face with a bar soap and did not use any specific products.
When I got to my thirties, that’s when the downhill ride began. My skin changed from smooth to dry and flaky with dark patches around my temples and jawline. I tried many household remedies, but nothing could fix my problems. At the time I had become a committed vegan and was concerned about the products that I used on my skin. As such I took up soap and lotion making as a devoted hobby. I mostly shared my products with friends and family. As the news of my soapmaking spread, so did questions about skin conditions that I knew nothing about.
My skincare problems and the increasing popularity pushed me to learn more about how skincare works, and I enrolled in the Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics in New York City. Here, I studied the function and physiology of the skin. I later got into research about Cosmetic Chemistry, and that's when I found the answer.
The problem was in the way my skin matured and replaced the dead skin cells. The natural periodical cycle of exfoliation and renewal of my skin was not working as expected. This process had slowed down, and as a result, the dead skin cells took longer to be replaced; due to this, the surface of my skin looked dry, flaky, and dull. Upon knowing this, I wasted no time in finding the correct and recommended ways to reverse this issue. In no time, my youthful glow and the radiant look returned.
As a licensed Esthetician, I discovered that most of my clients have related problems. Most of them, who are women in their thirties to fifties, have the same issues I had. The root cause can be traced back to our earlier years, where we didn't bother to learn about skincare until it became absolutely necessary. We then try out different solutions, which disappointingly, only make things worse.
Today, I am passionate and super excited about teaching proper skincare practices to other women and providing the best choice of products that solve any skincare problems and leave behind a healthy and glowing looking skin.
For women of color, skincare has always been seen as nothing less of a luxury we couldn't afford. We opted to use whatever we could find to take care of our delicate skins. For the most part, the basic product worked, but this newfound glory didn't last very long. Today, I aim to change that! As an Esthetician, my knowledge and experience put me in a position that allows me to figure out the problems these women face and recommend skincare products that provide the best-case scenario for their skins.
I have my own range of skincare products that are expertly crafted to provide a lasting solution to major skincare problems. My product line features products that moisturize, nourish and smoothen out any blemishes on your skin. I know what it's like to try out different products but see no change in your skin. I have designed my products to ensure that you don't have to go through this any longer.
